Everybody remembers the first time you had to present your essay in front of the class as a small boy or girl, you were literally naked, broken down to the simplicity of yourself and the words you would be bringing - full of hope for the future and what to come, full of dreams and expectations. After last years’ Introspection, this year TEDx Flanders is going Naked. A look at what is and will be in the future.

TEDxFlanders is blij je te mogen uitnodigen voor een Salon ervaring vol ideeën die het waard zijn onderzocht te worden. 

Zoals Ken Robinson zegt: Niemand vindt het thema school echt sexy, maar iedereen is erdoor geraakt. Net als toen we zelf gingen, zien we nieuwe generaties dag in dag uit hun schoolplicht vervullen. En we vragen we ons af: wat doen ze daar eigenlijk iedere dag?

TEDx: City 2.0

In samenwerking met TEDxFlanders organiseert CC Strombeek nu een TEDx Talk rond de thematiek van City 2.0, stadsranden en randsteden. 
Deze TEDx wordt een zoektocht naar ideeën voor een duurzame samenleving, toekomstvisies voor een wereld in constante verandering. De immer oprukkende verstedelijking vraagt antwoorden voor zowel de stad als de stadsrand. Overal ter wereld leeft een grote betrokkenheid bij de transities en groeipijnen die de moderne stad doormaakt. Oplossingen komen er maar moeizaam. De wereld speelt zich op dit moment in de stad af. De cijfers van deze toenemende verstedelijking spreken voor zich. Stilaan zien we in dat men de grote demografische, sociale, economische en ecologische problemen niet kan oplossen op wereldschaal. Maar wel op het behapbare niveau van de stad en haar stadsrand.

So... what was all that "TEDxFlanders quitting" about?

On February 8, mails and tweets were sent out announcing that we at TEDxFlanders were calling it quits with our organisation and events.
Well, that's not true. These messages were sent by someone who hijacked our mailing list, website and Twitter account. He spoke only for himself and not for the rest of the organising team and the countless volunteers who contribute their ideas and devote their spare time. TEDxFlanders is very much alive. As always, we love getting together with creative people and organising events for ideas worth spreading.

In an attempt to do some introspection of our own, we (the communications team) taped ourselves during an eleven hour long hackathon working session.

Notice how most of the conversation is not exactly TEDx related. Also, we ate a lot of cookies ;-)

Op 20 oktober komen vijftien internationale sprekers in de Vlaamse Opera te Antwerpen een interessante ontdekking delen of een inspirerende talk houden rond het centrale thema Introspection. Op diezelfde dag organiseert het team achter TEDxFlanders ook TEDxYouth @ Flanders in de Koninklijk Atheneum Antwerpen. Dit is een apart TEDx-event met sprekers en activiteiten speciaal voor kinderen vanaf 11 jaar.
